Interpreting Florida's Sales Tax Holiday: How It Really Impacts Generator Customers

Romeoville, IL (ContentDesk) May 15, 2006 - Theres no doubt about it. Tax breaks are always a good thing, especially when they protect families from disaster. The State of Florida recently approved its second Sales Tax Holiday on emergency supplies. Beginning 12:01 a.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006 and ending at midnight, June 1, 2006, Florida residents can purchase emergency preparedness items, including portable generators, without paying state sales tax.

The concept is great as long as you read the fine print first, says Jon Hoch, founder of ElectricGeneratorsDirect.com, an online generator superstore. (http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com)According to Hoch, the new law applies to portable generators selling for $1,000 or less, which is ideal for families looking to purchase a small portable generator for a relatively small home. Heres the Catch: According to the fine print, If the sales price of a qualifying item exceeds the allowable threshold amount, this tax exemption will not apply and the total purchase price is subject to tax. In layman terms, if you buy a portable generator for exactly a grand, you dont pay sales tax. However, if you buy one for just a penny more, you pay all of the sales tax, warns Hoch. ElectricGeneratorsDirect.com offers 126 different generator models.

Only 38 models (or 30%) of the available generators qualify for the tax rebate. (http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/catalog/shopbyprice.php)Larger portable generators, ranging from 6,000 to 15,000 watts, do not qualify. Not a single home standby generator qualifies. So even if you purchase a home standby generator for $2,000, dont expect to pay only half the sales tax. You will be responsible for paying the entire tax bill if you buy it locally, says Hoch.

Heres an Inside Tip: Local retailers are stockpiling small portable generators, preparing for the upcoming holiday. Today, shelves are fully stocked because everyone is waiting for the sales tax holiday to start. Once it starts, generators will be flying off shelves as quickly as Miami Heat playoff tickets. If you dont act quickly, there is a good chance that retailers could run out of stock before it expires, says Hoch. The mad rush is a game of musical chairs that most residents simply dont want to play.

So how do you get the incentive without the wait? Easy, says Hoch. ElectricGeneratorsDirect.com offers a tax-free guarantee every day. The online generator superstore never charges sales tax on any order at any time. If you purchased a small portable generator or a large standby generator online before the tax holiday, you simply wont pay sales tax, says Hoch. The tax isnt the issue if you buy online.

Just make sure that you get a good one before theyre gone, warns Hoch. ElectricGeneratorsDirect.com is an online generator superstore owned and operated by Power Equipment Direct, Inc. Portable Generators

Portable generators are used in homes and in places where there is no power or the need for power is minimum. Portable generators are generally smaller and are designed to use for a few. A portable generator of 5KW has enough power to keep lights, refrigerators, computers and televisions running for 7 to 8 hours. Portable generators are normally powered by gasoline, diesel, propane or natural gas. They are the most popular of all portable generators.

Gasoline generators are relatively less expensive but require frequent maintenance and have a shorter life span. Gasoline has a short shelf life and cannot be stored for a long time unless treated with stabilizers.

Diesel generators, on the other hand, are fuel-efficient, consume less fuel per kilowatt of power produced, have longer life and require less maintenance. Diesel can be stored for longer periods of time. However, they are harder to start in cold weather and noisy. Portable generators powered by natural gas...

Emergency Generators

The disruption of power for substantial lengths of time can occur at any time due to hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, snowfall and other natural calamities. Having emergency backup power in such situations is not only essential for hospitals and commercial establishments but also in homes to run critical appliances like lights, refrigerators, heaters and medical equipment.

There are basically two types of generators that can be used in an emergency: portable and permanent standby generators. The main difference between the two is their output power and price.

In times of emergencies, portable generators provide the most economical way of supplying back up power. Appliances are directly plugged into the generator using the recommended extension cord or alternatively are connected to the home wiring system using a transfer switch.

The generators come with an electric start or a pull start and loaded with many other features including the GFCI receptacles. Emergency Generators

Oxygen generators safety

Since a major airplane crash took place, with over one hundred victims, people have been questioning the safety of the emergency oxygen generators aboard. These oxygen generators are placed in airplanes because in case there's a pressure drop the passengers must breathe through special masks connected to the oxygen generator.

After the crash happened, some blamed the oxygen generators as a possible cause of the explosion and of the fire, but experts sustain that oxygen generators and canisters that are aboard the airplanes are harmless if they are handled correctly, and that it is very unlikely that oxygen generators caused the explosion, but not impossible.

It is known that once a fire is started, it need oxygen to continue burning, so the only real harm that oxygen generators can do is to fuel an already started, burning fire.

Anyway, the Federal Aviation Administration keeps a close watch on any plane that is transporting oxygen...

The APSA Process In Nitrogen Generataors

Some of the new-generation nitrogen generators use the APSA process to generate nitrogen. This APSA process relies on the fractionated distillation of air at very low (cryogenic) temperatures, and in only one column. In other words, APSA nitrogen generators are nitrogen generators that use cryogenic distillation of air to generate nitrogen.

After the air is being compressed, it is purified in the nitrogen generator, so that the cryogenic operation runs smoothly. The air is being compressed at around 9 bars with a centrifugal or a screw compressor and afterwards cooled down with the help of a cooling unit.

The air that runs through the nitrogen generator must then be purified, so it passes through several filters and cooled down some more.

Afterwards the criogenic process must intervene, so the air enters a special area of the nitrogen generator, the cooling area, and then the oxygen in the air is separated from the nitrogen. At the bottom...

Advantages of using a hydrogen generator

Most of the medical testing labs, pharmaceutical producers and manufacturers, processing facilities, and even hospitals don't accept 'mistakes' like defective valves, bad connections or missed hydrogen deliveries.

So, the best way to keep these things from happening is to acquire some performant hydrogen generators, that can produce a reliable supply of hydrogen with a purity of 99.999%.

One of the inconveniences of not having a hydrogen generator in a test lab is that if the hydrogen supply runs out,the experiment must be repeated, which leads to losses of money, and therefore, the plant production has to suffer. This thing would not happen if the labs would have a continuous source of hydrogen provided by a hydrogen generator.

Also, the costs of purchasing a hydrogen generator will even be atenuated in time, because they produce hydrogen at a fraction of the cost of the cylinder gas, and at higher pressure, which is needed in the...
